# Join requests

People with an agh account can ask to join your project from its **Ask to join** page, at `/p/your-project/join`. You list the work you're looking for people for, and admins add the people they want as artists. It's on every plan.

## Set it up

Admins open **Settings › Join requests**:

- **Take join requests** turns the Ask to join page on. While it's off, the page says the project isn't taking new people.
- **Pause when … join requests are waiting** is optional. Once that many are waiting for an answer, the page shows the same "not taking join requests" message until you answer some.
- **Openings** are the work you're looking for people for, such as `Voice: Bram` or `Prop artist`. Each has a title, the kinds of work it needs, and a short description. **General** is always offered too, for people who don't fit an opening.
- An opening can **reserve matching work**: a kind and at least one tag, such as `kind=audio character=bram`. When you add someone for that opening, you can make that [reservation](/docs/reservations) for them in the same step. Reservations are part of the **Studio** and **Enterprise** plans.

Share the page's link from the same tab. When your project has a public page, its **Ask to join** button leads there while you take requests.

## Asking to join

Asking needs an agh account. Someone who isn't signed in sees your openings and **Sign in to ask**; after signing in they come straight back. Accounts are invite-only for now.

They give the name your team sees, pick one or more openings (or General), the kinds of work they do (art, audio, text, 3D, video), up to five portfolio links, and optionally up to five attachments of up to 25 MB each: images, models, audio, video, text or PDF files. Files upload as soon as they're picked; one that's too big or of a type agh doesn't take is shown in red and left out, and the request can still be sent with the rest. One person has one waiting request per project, and at most 20 waiting across every project. They can withdraw a waiting request and send a new one.

Everyone sees their requests and your answers under **Your join requests**, linked from the agh sidebar and the Ask to join page.

## Answer requests

Admins open **Join requests** under Project. The count beside it is requests no admin has opened yet. Filter by New, Added or Not now, and by opening. Open a request to see the openings they picked, the kinds of work they do, their links, and their attachments, which play or show in place with a Download link.

Your team never sees the email address of someone asking to join. To reach them, use **Message artist**: agh emails them for you and keeps their address hidden. See [Message artist](/docs/message-artist).

- **Add to project** makes them a member with the **artist** role. They already have an account, so there's no invite to accept: the project appears in their agh the next time it loads. For each opening they picked that reserves work, a ticked box makes that reservation for them. Leave an optional welcome note; they read it under Your join requests. Adding someone counts toward your plan's people per project, like any member.
- **Not now** answers them, with an optional note. They can ask again after 30 days.

Someone who's already on the project keeps their role when you add them.

## Below Studio

Join requests work on every plan. Below Studio, the reserve boxes on **Add to project** are off, with a link to this guide and to upgrade; add the person and they can claim open requests like any artist.
