Getting started
agh (Asset Goes Here) keeps the list of assets a game still needs. Coding agents request assets, fulfillers (tools, AI models or people) deliver files, a developer reviews them, and agh publishes accepted files to the game's repository with a record of how each was made.
Install the CLI
Download the executable for your platform from the download page, or with the commands below. It is one self-contained file, so there is nothing else to install.
# Linux
curl -fsSL -o agh https://app.assetgoeshere.com/download/agh-linux-x64
chmod +x agh && sudo mv agh /usr/local/bin/
# macOS (Apple silicon; use agh-osx-x64 on Intel)
curl -fsSL -o agh https://app.assetgoeshere.com/download/agh-osx-arm64
chmod +x agh && sudo mv agh /usr/local/bin/
# Windows (PowerShell): installs to your user folder and adds it to your PATH
$dir = "$env:LOCALAPPDATA\Programs\agh"; New-Item -ItemType Directory -Force $dir | Out-Null
Invoke-WebRequest -OutFile "$dir\agh.exe" https://app.assetgoeshere.com/download/agh-win-x64.exe
$path = [Environment]::GetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "User")
if (($path -split ";") -notcontains $dir) { [Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("Path", "$path;$dir", "User") }
On Windows, open a new PowerShell window afterwards so it picks up the new PATH.
Check it with agh --version, which prints the version you have, such as 1.1.0.184+179b4c0: the semantic version, the build number, then the commit it was built from. agh update replaces it with the server's newest build in the same folder, after checking the download against its published SHA-256; agh update --check only reports. When the server is newer, agh says so in one line, at most once a day (set AGH_NO_UPDATE_NOTICE=1 to turn that off). agh --help lists every command, agh <command> --help shows one command with examples, and agh guide lists these guides.
Sign in
Every command needs to know the server and the project:
# Linux and macOS (add to ~/.bashrc or ~/.zshrc to keep them)
export AGH_SERVER=https://app.assetgoeshere.com
export AGH_PROJECT=virandel
# Windows (PowerShell): saved for your account; open a new window afterwards
[Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("AGH_SERVER", "https://app.assetgoeshere.com", "User")
[Environment]::SetEnvironmentVariable("AGH_PROJECT", "virandel", "User")
For this window only, PowerShell takes $env:AGH_SERVER = "https://app.assetgoeshere.com". Without AGH_SERVER, or --server, agh looks for a server on your own machine at http://localhost:7414.
- People run
agh loginonce. It opens the sign-in page in a browser and keeps you signed in for about a month. - Tools (Codex, Claude, scripts) sign in with a client id and secret. A project admin creates them with
agh tool add <name> --role fulfilleror with Add member under Settings › Members on the web page, and the tool setsAGH_CLIENT_IDandAGH_CLIENT_SECRET.
agh whoami and agh project show confirm who you are and what role you have.
Roles
| Role | Can |
|---|---|
agent | Request assets and submit batches for approval. |
fulfiller | Claim requests and deliver files. |
artist | A person who claims requests and delivers files. |
developer | Everything above, plus approve batches, review deliveries and publish. |
admin | Everything, plus manage members, tools and where the project publishes. |
Tell us what you think
Found a bug, or want agh to do something it doesn't? agh feedback send "..." (add --bug for a bug) sends it to the people who build agh, and chat apps and coding agents can do the same with the send_feedback tool. Coding agents are asked to report anything in agh that fails or misleads them.
Where to go next
agh guide fulfiller: claim requests and deliver files.agh guide openai: fill image requests with OpenAI's image API.agh guide codex: set up OpenAI Codex as a fulfiller.agh guide chatgpt: deliver files made in ChatGPT.agh guide mcp: connect ChatGPT, Claude or another chat app to agh.agh guide review: approve batches, review deliveries and publish.
For agents: this page as Markdown is at /docs/getting-started.md, and the CLI prints it with agh guide getting-started.
