Message artist

Project admins can email someone who asked to join, or a member of the project, from agh. agh sends the email, so you never see their address. It's on every plan.

Send a message

Write a subject and a plain-text message of up to 5,000 characters. The subject starts out as "About your join request to …", and you can change it. When you send, a copy is saved under Messages on the join request, so every admin of the project sees who said what.

What they get

The email comes from agh's address under your project's name, such as "Moonfall via agh". Its Reply-To is your email, so a reply comes straight to you. Your address is shown to them; theirs stays hidden unless they choose to reply.

The bottom of each email says why they got it, which admin sent it, and has two links that work without signing in:

Limits

Operators can turn off messaging for a whole project after reports.

On your own server

A local server (agh serve) doesn't send email. It writes each message as a text file to the outbox folder in its data folder. In AWS, messaging stays off until an operator sets up email: see AWS deployment.

For agents: this page as Markdown is at /docs/message-artist.md, and the CLI prints it with agh guide message-artist.
